The Royal Palace of Monaco

In July 2011 after more than 5 decades, The Monaco Royal Palace saw the wedding of its Sovereign Prince.  Prince Albert of Monaco married the South African athlete Charlene Wittstock in a lavish wedding ceremony in the summer of 2011.

The day saw beautiful Zimbabwe born South Africa based Swimming champion Charlene walking down the aisle in a stunning Armani gown paired with Baumer Aigrettet tiara.  Charlene and Prince Albert met at a swimming competition in Monte Carlo in 2000 where Charlene was the gold medal winner. The couple’s love story actually started many years after their first meeting.

They announced their engagement in June 2010 and married in a civil ceremony on July 01st in 2011 at  the Prince's Palace, in the presence of their close relatives and the members of the Government.

On the next day, The church wedding took place at The courtyard of the Royal Palace in a lavish ceremony attended by some 800 guests from all over the world followed by an evening reception.

This year, the Royal Palace marked the couple's 11th wedding anniversary with a new portrait.
