King Felipe of Spain had a busy day at The Royal Palace

Today, Spanish King Felipe VI received three audiences at the Royal Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid. First Felipe met with the the constitutional speaker, permanent councilor of State and president of the First Section of the Council of State, Miguel Herrero and Rodríguez de Miñón.

The Council of State is a consultative body of the Government that ensures the observance of the Constitution and the rest of the legal system, in addition to assessing the aspects of timeliness and convenience when required by the nature of the matter or expressly requested by the consulting authority, as well as the greater efficiency of the Administration in the fulfillment of its aims.

Next, King Felipe met with the the president of the Constitutional Court, Juan José González Rivas. Mr Rivas presented the King with a copy of the second updated edition of the book, "Comments on the Organic Law of the Constitutional Court", a reference work for the legal community, drawn up entirely by the leading experts in Spain on the subject: court magistrates, their lawyers, as well as university professors and professors of Constitutional Law.


 

Mr. Juan José González Rivas is the highest representative of the Constitutional Court, made up of twelve members, who hold the title of Magistrates of the Constitutional Court. They are appointed by the King by Royal Decree, at the proposal of the Chambers that make up the Cortes Generales (four by the Congress and four by the Senate), the Government (two) and the General Council of the Judiciary (two).

Felipe finished his day with an audience from the Cardinal Archbishop of Barcelona and President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Juan José Omella who is elected president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference for the 2020-2024 four-year period.

The Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) is a collegiate institution made up of the Bishops of Spain, in communion with His Holiness the Pope and under his authority. Its objective is to promote the life of the Church, strengthen its evangelizing mission, and respond more effectively to the greater good that the Church must seek for men.

Her Majesty gave Prince William's bridge Cartier Halo Tiara that was gifted to Queen Elizabeth I by King George VI (Queen Elizabeth II's parents) on their wedding anniversary. The Queen herself was never seen wearing the tiara but her sister Princess Margaret wore the tiara at 1953 coronation. The tiara was also Princess Anne's go to tiara in her early years.
