The Grand President of St John Ambulance and a care volunteer for the charity, The Countess of Wessex started volunteering at its vaccination centre to assist the Covid-19 vaccine rollout across the country. St John Ambulance is helping deliver the NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme and expects to train around 30,000 vaccination volunteers by this coming spring.

Sophie completed her first shift as a Care Volunteer at an NHS vaccination centre this week on Thursday. The Countess has joined a growing team of over 10,000 volunteers who have been trained and deployed across the country. 56-years old, The Countess of Wessex has been stepping out to help those in need since the first lockdown, volunteering at food banks and helping to prepare meals for frontline workers. Sophie helped to pack PPE equipment at St John Ambulance's operational support hub last June.

In the pictures shared by The Royal Family’s social media, Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest daughter-in-law was seen chatting happily with the people coming in for their COVID-19 jab. About her participation, St John Ambulance said,

"Like many of our existing and long-standing volunteers, the Countess of Wessex has completed the required training to become a care volunteer in support of the NHS vaccination programme.

We're delighted to welcome the Countess, as the Grand President of St John Ambulance, to a growing team of over 10,000 volunteers who are now trained and being deployed to NHS vaccination centres all over England, in an extraordinary collective effort to beat the pandemic".
