The Duchess of Cambridge Brought British Retailers Together to Support Baby Banks

When in 2010, Prince William and his bride-to-be, Catherine Middleton, sat down for their first joint interview, their two statements about the future stood out:

It's about making your own future and your own destiny and Kate will do a very good job of that - Prince William

Yes, well I really hope I can make a difference, even in the smallest way. I am looking forward to helping as much as I can - Catherine Middleton

And today 10 years onwards, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not only carved a successful path for themselves but for the people around the society too who follows them, their work, and causes they support.

The ongoing pandemic has hit our society from all fronts but some vulnerable young children and families got the worst part of the hits. In the summer of 2020, The Duchess of Cambridge  unveiled a fantastic initiative of bringing baby banks and British brands together in a bid to boost support for vulnerable families. The Duchess of Cambridge brought together nineteen British brands and retailers to donate over 10,000 new items to more than 40 baby banks nationwide.

Catherine visited the UK Headquarter of Baby Basics in Sheffield where she helped staff unpack donations.

And now The Kate's Rangers has taken that cause to another step while marking the 10th wedding anniversary of the Royal Couple this week.

Kate's Rangers have asked the Royal fans and followers to donate products to Baby Basics through an Amazon wish list instead of donating money. The wishlist includes a range of products from nappies to prams starting from £1.

The Fan account reached Cat Ross, CEO of Baby Basics and asked them about their work, how The Duchess of Cambridge got involved with the charity and how they can be helped via donations.

Cat told that The Duchess of Cambridge first became aware of The Baby Basics through their centre in West Norfolk where she volunteered during the early period of the pandemic. The Duchess has privately visited The Baby Bank branch and talked to the families needing support from baby banks.

Launching the initiative The Duchess in 2020 said,

“Over recent months, I have heard from families who have been supported by baby banks through the most difficult of times and I have been deeply moved by their stories. Having somewhere to turn to for support is important for all families, and baby banks work every day, up and down the country, to provide immediate, tangible and practical help for parents and carers when they are most in need. Baby banks are driven by incredible volunteers, demonstrating the power of community spirit in supporting families and coming together to raise the next generation. Thanks to the generosity of the companies taking part in this initiative, baby banks across the UK will be able to support even more families through this particularly challenging time.”

Talking about her visits and meeting with the families in 2020, The Duchess said,

“It can get very emotional. I remember a couple of the families I met from King’s Lynn and I went home and literally burst into tears, their stories were so moving. The struggles they have gone through, the bravery they have shown…in extraordinary circumstances. Helping their families through extraordinary times.”

And the 'Kate-Effect' played its desired role and Baby Basics was brought to the limelight that led to this beautiful initiative. The fundraiser was launched on Saturday, April 24th  and just within two days, it has been a huge success.

A video shared by the Baby Basics on Twitter shows how the people from various corners of life have come together to support the amazing cause. The wishlist has been stocked four times since the launch of the fundraiser. It shows the real power of social media that had recently turned into a very toxic zone. Its been heart-warming to see the charity receiving the generous help that will in turn support many more families.

As a promotion method, Kate's rangers have asked the Follower to like their posts on Instagram and tweet their message on Twitter. In return for the kind support, for every 20 Retweets and every 75 likes on Instagram Kate's Rangers are donating one item on their own.

The Donations upto Day 2 to the Baby basics through Kate's rangers Fundraiser

The donations are open for the week upto May 01. Please visit the Amazon Wishlist here and donate if you can. Pass the message along to your friends and family so that whoever wants to donate can do. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have always asked fans and followers to donate to charities to mark their big days instead of sending gifts to them. If you cannot donate to Baby Basics or are ethically against using Amazon you can always pick a nearby cause and support it.

The Duchess of Cambridge has not just created her own legacy by working with children and early years but she has brought a very crucial stone of our social structure to the front table and the public who admired the Future Queen is supporting her fully in this cause.

A huge Thank you to Kate's Rangers for organising this cause and a big hug to everyone at Baby Basics who is doing a wonderful job!
