Queen Maxima marked International Women’s Day with Virtual Meetings
Koninklijk Huis

Queen Maxima of Netherlands had a virtual meeting with the Elance Academy founder Aytun Aydin, employees, coaches and participants about the various coaching programs and working on awareness and independence. Maxima learnt about coaching and about the ambition to create opportunities so that the participants can develop into strong women and role models for the next generation.

At Elance Academy, girls and young women are coached by female role models. They are guided in making the right school choice, in developing a clear future perspective and in expanding their network. Elance works on equal opportunities for women by connecting cultural backgrounds, between women and between policy, education and work.

Earlier Queen Maxima gave a virtual opening speech on International Women’s Day at the event ‘Call to Action for Reaching Financial Equality’. The event organized by the Better Than Cash Alliance, UNCDF, World Bank Group and Women’s World Banking is about financial equality between men and women #genderequality.
In her speech, Queen Máxima encouraged governments and companies to use digital inclusive finance for women as a tool for economic recovery after the pandemic. Women still have less access to financial services than men. This hinders their opportunities for development. The corona crisis is hitting the economic position of women disproportionately hard, according to UN Women.
