Releasing a new update about the ongoing hospitalization of Prince Philip, Buckingham Palace said that The Duke of Edinburgh has been transferred from King Edward VII’s Hospital to St Bartholomew’s Hospital where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection.
He was transferred from King Edward Hospital to St Barts via an ambulance today at 11.15 in the morning. A NHS hospital, St Barts is a centre of excellence for heart-care with its cardiac centre being Europe’s largest specialised cardiovascular service.

“The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week” – Buckingham Palace

The Duke was treated for a block coronary in 2011 at Papworth Hospital. From Daily Mirror’s report,

BBC Royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell said: “This is not the reassuring news people were hoping for. We have learnt for the first time he has a pre-existing heart condition – it adds a new dimension.”
