Today, when The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were walking down the same aisle of Westminster Abbey on which they walked hand in hand 10 years ago, they without any words took us all back to the happy and simpler times.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Charles to mark the one year of this ongoing pandemic that has disrupted every corner of our life. The Queen led the nation in marking the ‘National Day of Reflection’ and remembered those who lost their lives due to the COVID-19.
The Royal couple visited the Westminster Abbey’s vaccination centre at the Poet’s Corner in the church where they talked to the staff and thanked them for their work. The couple had a private moment of reflection at the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor, observing a minute’s silence as part of the ‘National day of Reflection’.
William lit a candle and Catherine laid daffodils.
Although the event was to mark the biggest crisis of our modern history, The Duchess of Cambridge brightened the day with her sartorial choices. The Duchess chose a new ivory white Catherine Walker Valeria Coat.
The structured coat with scalloped edge and lacework was a reminder of the iconic wedding dress Catherine wore a decade ago when she walked down the same passage. The Duchess of Cambridge’s style of the day took all of us down memory lane – April 29th of 2011. The Day a common Middle-Class British Girl married her Prince Charming.
When the couple was walking down the aisle, it was reminding us that within a month they will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their wedding. A happy married life that was Catherine’s dream and something Prince William was craving. A family of his own.
We will never find out what was the thought behind the choice, but it definitely not just remind us of the happy times it was a truly hopeful reflection of the future. As The Queen said in her message last year ‘We will meet again, the elegant and dignified style of The Duchess of Cambridge was saying, ‘The happy time will be back again.
